Debby grew up in a family of artisans and though creative in many ways, the ability to draw or paint eluded her. That changed shortly after she turned fifty. Returning from a trip home to Montana where her parents still lived, and knowing it would be the last time she saw her dying mother alive, Debby stopped at her church on the way home from the airport to pray as it was Good Friday. Following a time of prayer, a leader in her church unexpectedly stopped to greet and then pray for Debby upon learning of her recent journey. An unpremeditated request to God to release Debby’s full inheritance ‘now’ unlocked the gifts of art that she had always believed were part of her family inheritance.
A burning passion to paint on canvas was released to Debby that day on Good Friday, 2011, and she has painted something almost every day since. Fully aware that this gift is from God, Debby invites the presence of God to partner with her as she creates, with the hope that some measure of that presence will grace the homes in which her art finds a resting place, with peace, hope and joy. Many of her early paintings were inspired by dreams, visions, portals, and Biblical concepts. The subject matter has expanded as Debby’s art developed. In 2016, she discovered fluid art, or pour painting as some call it. After several months of intensive study of the art form, she began pouring and became totally captivated with this mystery of paint reactivity and the wonder of layering colors and different paint types to bring forth a controlled unknown result. Between the fall of2020 to the spring of2021, Debby took a series of classes from several professional artists that further expanded her subject matter with greater detail. Fluid art will continue to be a part of Debby’s art mix, but she is always pressing the mark to bring new creativity to her work. Debby’s other art forms include painting large silk worship banners, garden floral and landscape photography, resin art and making Jewelry. She has written two books which were self-published on Amazon’s self-publishing wing, and she works during the day as an Executive Assistant in the Medical field. Debby has traveled to many nations and looks forward to the day when she can retire from her EA position and focus on her art full time. But until then, she makes times because it brings her great joy to create beautiful pieces of art in her various avenues of expression. |

I spent a few year recently developing my fluid art skills, which I totally love, but now have taken that layering skill back into my paintbrush art for greater depth. Every now and then I make a pour painting just to spark imagination and creativity. I hope you enjoy seeing these pop us as much as I enjoy making them.
